General information:
The home from the magistral canon of the Sé do Porto, Domingos Barbosa, is located at D. Hugo´s street. This old and noble house, dated from the 2nd quarter of the eighteenth century, which gives to the city one Baroque style with its own characteristics, was inaugurated as a house museum in 1942, aiming to evoke Guerra Junqueiro and recreate the private setting of his your home. The House Museum presents important both national and international decorative art collections, crossing periods between the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries. These collections are not only a result of donations made by Guerra Junqueiro’s daughter , Maria Isabel Guerra Junqueiro Carvalho de Mesquita, and wife Filomena Augusta Guerra Junqueiro to the Porto City Hall, but also through acquisitions made by the City Hall. The sculpture collection and a part of the metal collection are an additional deposit from the National Museum of Ancient Art, a legacy of the poet. The building was improved in 1996 by Alcino Soutinho, an architect from Porto, who endowed this House Museum with temporary exhibition halls, a store, a coffee shop and an outdoor patio.
