ALMEIDA GARRETT MUNICIPAL LIBRARY

General information:
The Palace Cultural Building was opened in 2001 during the Porto 2001 - European Capital of Culture. This space has a library, a gallery and an auditorium, designed in harmony with the UNESCO goals for the public libraries, aimed to attract all population social strata. This monument also contributed to bring back dynamics to the Crystal Palace Gardens from the past. On this visit we intend take you on a journey through the past of this city area and talk about the disappeared heritage, yet still preserved on the toponomy. We'll also speak about Crystal Palace, a building from the nineteenth century, which is a special example of the iron age architecture in Porto and represented an unique monument in our country.
