National University of Timor Lorosa'e Teachers Training Programme

  November 29th 2016

  News

The Cooperation between the University of Porto and the National University of Timor-Lorosa’e goes back to 2010, when Mundus ACP project saw its approval. This would be the first of four projects in which the two Institutions would collaborate up to date.

In addition to the General Agreement signed in April 2011, UNTL feels the need to expand the knowledge and skills of its teachers, in an excellence academic environment, and decides to implement the National University of Timor Lorosa'e Teachers Training Programme.

The first execution of grants in U.Porto, for Masters and PhD courses, reports to the academic year 2013/2014, when another Portuguese Higher Education Institution emerged as the central point of the Programme.

Currently, the cooperation ties between UNTL and U.Porto are closer, with the signature of a Programme Contract, on July 1, 2016, which regulates UNTL's Postgraduate Teachers Training at U.Porto. This new agreement allows the University of Porto to manage the financial support granted to the partial or full scholarship holders of UNTL, to complete a full course at our Institution.

This type of initiatives distinguishes, once again, the University of Porto as a hard supporter of internationalization, which has been explored and consolidated by the Institution in the past years.

  Events

The University of Porto holds this week the Cultural Sessions, an initiative promoted to support the preparation of hundreds of students who will participate in international mobility programmes for higher education students in the academic year 2016/17 (2nd semester).

Organized by the International Relations Office of the U.Porto, the initiative takes place between November 21st and 25th, in the building of the Rectorate. 7 sessions will be hosted, led by 8 guest speakers. The speakers are students in mobility at U.Porto, who will assume the role of presenting their country of origin, and also students from U.Porto that have already returned from their mobility period and who will share their experiences in their host countries.

Through this initiative, participants can expose their fears to students who have been in their situation, contributing to the reduction of the initial impact of life in a foreign country.

More than 1,100 students from U.Porto will go on mobility to the four corners of the world to undertake a period of study at partner universities abroad. The Cultural Sessions of this 3rd Edition include the following countries: Italy, Brazil, Czech Republic, Poland, Netherlands, Spain and United Kingdom. The participants will be more than 200 students.
